General Notes

-Check your mic positions—we had a lot of people brushing their mics with jackets, clothing, etc.  Also, be aware of your mic and do not rub up against anyone in that area where it is positioned:

·        Factory Girl – be sure not to rub against foreman

·        JT and Nathan – check your mics and positioning as you take and move around your jackets, etc…nathan we are getting this a lot in second act…we had to kill your mic 3x so far out of 7 shows—have we looked at your lapel—check with sound…or be very careful.

·        Chain gain – we noticed a lot of popping and rubbing noises on mics. 

·        Eponine/marius – be careful during the death scene and pressing your mic against marius chest, etc.

Transitions in general were slower than normal—work under control, but with pace…especially Inn, Docks, Rue

Energy level were low on all group songs – need way more power, energy  at all times.  We had to turn up volume tonight to compensate. Voices should be rested and you should be ready from the opening.

Be in character—saw some character breaks. 

Everyone be aware of overly dramaticadlibs/movements  during solos, 2 characters in a moment—during scenes and during transitions (harder because we know you are trying to get out of there, but try to be just more aware like we did during the hospital bed and waiting for the bed to be in place and not standing in spot areas

Principals -  Be more aware of your spots/staying in light.

Vocals/Music  - everyone please review lines at all times – also please be less muddy and be more exact/precise today. Diction, Diction, Diction..was tough today.

Prologue

Chain gang Solos hit center – time it out better

Chain gang – do not hit curtain—please move rope off curtain.

Talking – cannot talk in line and backstage mic is hot – cannot talk

Angela – do not anticpate your reaction to yellow ticket

Matt – more of a wind up when hitting JVJ – also pull your hair back or fit the hat better on your head

Fong – don’t life JVJ until “Ihave raised you out of darkness”

General: - freeze behind curtain – we can see ppl moving, especially during cross…should not be near light.  Please stay away from factory set pieces until it is time to position for transition and be careful as you do as movement can be scene

Factory

You guys kick off the main part of the show – let’s rock it out—really be dramatic and strong in vocals—we kick the show off here

Scott do not jump stairs too early behind curtain….

Brendis – missed look up on foreman

Joey – pitches, especially when you first come in—awknowledge JVJ when he tells you to sort this out, wactch aggressiveness…little too angry as foreman—be more slimey..need to vary your anger/aggressiveness from Pimp.

Factory Singers – seemed a bit off or behind music…this is a big opening, so please be on mark with the music—same backstage.

Morgan/Nathan – do not exit center as factory trans to docks..

Docks

Transition was too loud—also heard the thumping of the bridge units being set down—please practice this—you have been instructed how to let these things down and lift up—we should not hear  thumps and the snapping of these levers..rather have it deliberate and more controlled.  The scene transition was slow, so should have been quiet. 

Jennifer – diction Paid, apart, cannot…also watch pitches as you climb shame ladder.

Lovely ladies – more dramatic on 1^st round of stings..snap it

Bethan – turn further DS on 1^st set of stings

Monica – be more seductive in your voice when talking to Jen

Amelia – do not pull up skirt…

Red Shawl?

Taylor/Matt – come in after music que for Police – came in a bit too earyly

Cameron Scott – tone down perform bit during Jen song w JVJ

Brandon – do not anticpate cart..your scream and fall has to be as cart touches you…

Taylor- be careful of pacing – especially in cart scene…hold your position as it is way more authoritative and dramatic—did love the look look back to JVJ as you left!

Jen – great death

Inn

Laura – sweep yellow ticket – remember to watch your broom on mic

Laura – best solo so far.

Tranisition Tyler – gotta say it – bench :-0..thank you Josh…work with Steph on why this is happening—should not and cannot happen again

Becky – be more on the que with your line and hit Neil on “god this place”

Harry – don’t push  on “fly through”—after gazelle leap look out.

Lisa/Harry – love bird

Harry – step DC “all the bits and pieces…” from kitchen instead of to bench/table area..need to see you in the light

Guests – seemed toned down—you are having a  party at the Inn…need way more energy from the start and need to be on your ques

Lisa – love body language and posture

Harry/Lisa – look at each other and have a moment of realization before you start laughing in bargain

H – great “what to do..”

H – cannot say cosette or remarkable place

H – pull pants higher

Beggars

Transition Joey and Justin – stand behind benches or look busy…..stay away from area around Lil Cosette and JVJ if you can.  I know you are waiting, but try to cover it

Meredith – diction on “I know what you give…”

Ben – great sound on arise

Gav – your standing straight up and – recall Michael working with you on your posture and being in a more aggressive position. Watch shoulders—be tighter with arms andshoulders…Michael can work w you again for tomorrow night.  We lose some of your boyness after a week off…bring that back.

Ep – stay in light during thebeggars – “little you know”

Cameron – don’t shake during ep/marius first meeting—I like it otherwise—

Harry – watch the your volume level and voice screamy during beggars..

Harry – too “Mammy during “me I told you so…”

Kelly – good job on stairs

Taylor – diction on “Dark”

Gavroche – look out into the audience on “that inspector” – do not look back at him..use your thumb to refer to him but keeping your head forward and tell this story to the audience—be more aggressive – this your town not his! this is a repeat note.

Nicole—yes on Ponine

ABC

Ben – could not see your singing—facing all the way US

You also have to wait for student yelling to die off on “Marius your late”—do not jump it..

Ben – you are no longer a child—diction, song-diction…not hitting top notes?

Scott – get with costumes and check your sleeves ony our jacket or give one roll up or have her tuck and pin? 

Rue

Cosette – stay in light when you step on stage.

Heart full – love it—best of night…best of run.

Awesome tension during attack  in general – gang I want that—really be big in your lines, movements, aggressiveness…great job….diction really makes a difference because you are not miced….it worked tonight..

H – do not lose clarity in your lines…when you get aggressive we lose some of it.

Act II

Nicole on own was spectacular

Barricade build/deconstruct.

Good job on being quiet during her song—at first it is loud—you need to be aware that you have time and all movement should be deliberate and err on the side of slow during this scene…also, foot traffic at the beginning is loud as everyone comes on stage…please pick feet up and walk softly..do not shuffle and no heavy feet..again you have 4 minutes to get it done..rather have you take up 3:30 and move deliberate and slow and get out v 2 minutes and be fast

Students – “now we pledge ourselves—check that

Gav – take hat off as soon as you climbe over the barricade during beggar…keep in hand, but take off please – repeat note

Kelly – tone down movement during ep dying

Little fall – nice, be careful on mics and death snuggles :_)

Matt/Sam – please work on the ep carry – repeat note – life legs together..look at each other and do inunison

Scott – watch pants—do not get them caught in the tops of shoes in back—make sense?

Students – watch 2 stings while JVJ is releasing javert – need it bigger and sharper

Kelly – tone down laughing over the other singing…before you sing in drink with me

All – tone down movement as soon as you hear the bring him home music start…freeze prior not rushing to freeze….before he sings.

Eric –gorgeous song.

Gav  - get your head up – do not look down and struggle a bit more over bench….once you are over there is no place to go make it look that way and keep head up at all times…good death fall and catch J

Students – bigger death stretches with arms before fall and deaths…need to be more dramatic..not aggressive but dramatic and elegant..make sense?

Sewers

JVJ acknowledge when you hear harry coming – as if oh no someone is coming…get marius down sooner so this can happen.

Taylor great.

Turning – good job  ladies

Sam – control movement as you movealive to empty chairs…less clunky?

All – review steps…some too early-gav and some too far away – matt..just synch it preshow

Wedding

Need to work on music/vocals – off a bit…..

Move slower across stage…
