May 5th rehearsal notes and more!

What an amazing cast we have! Thanks to all for your attention as we went through all the necessities--now on to the fun!

May 5th, Rehearsal #1 notes

Thanks to all for your patience as we went through the sign-in process. We had several items that needed to be handed out, signed, read-through, etc. If you were not in attendance, please see Stephanie for any forms/items that you missed. If you did not bring your libretto deposit, please do so at our next rehearsal.

Important items to remember:

• For late arrivals and/or unexpected conflicts on rehearsal days, please text Stephanie and Adam.
• Arrive to rehearsal around 10 minutes early. Use this time wisely to warm-up vocals, stretch, etc. We will start promptly at 7pm.
• CHECK THE BLOG EVERY DAY.

Lovely Ladies music aka "The Docks"

• Solo parts don't have to be 'sung'--they can be 'spoken' to the notes (Old Women, Pimp, etc.)
• Lovely Lady parts are very staccato:
• Pronounce each syllable--be sure you're not glossing over them
• Pronounce consonants (they should feel a bit 'overdone' in your head: darK, parK...)
• Ensure you're not giving too much emphasis on the downbeats--keep it even
• Individual parts (Whore 1, Whore 2, etc.) will be assigned upon blocking
• Listen for repeating motives throughout the entire piece

Additional notes

For this production, we ask that all cast members provide their own shoes except for Javert, the constables, and Cosette.  We would like the women and peasant men to wear lace-up paddock boots (see below), preferably brown but if you already own a pair in black that is fine.  Valjean, the Bishop, and the students will need black zip-front paddock boots.  They do need to be black but if you already own lace-up, brown paddock boots, that is fine.  Please no modern-looking combat boots.  If you have a question please see Kristen Knipp, our costume designer.

These types of boot can be found on Amazon and horse.com.  They can sometimes also be found at Target and at thrift stores.
