- MORE punch, and MORE growl. You guys are a bunch of filthy convicts; some imprisoned for minor things, but eh, who's counting? You're all angry with the world--we should hear that in your voices.
- Do NOT 'bounce' your rope-/chain-/sheet-pulling movements. Bend at the waist for the grab with your arms, then pull back and step with that foot. No dancing in the line, guys. Sorry.
- Keep your spacing. There needs to be enough space between you so the silhouette of the chain can show, and that (most importantly) you don't step on each other.
- Get ready to work. Once it heats up, chain gang choreo steps outside. We can sell tickets and earn extra $$ by making a "Men of Les Mis" calendar. Kidding...
- Chain gang--you're silhouetted, so the moves have to be bigger than you think.
- Chain gang--Yes, you can grunt--you're pulling a SHIP. Or...maybe you're just in a voracious game of tug-of-war with JVJ and the Innkeeper's wife. You decide. Either way, it's difficult and the audience needs to KNOW.
- Farmers in silhouette--react to the scuffle taking place when the farmer boots out JVJ.
- Constables--cheat out, cheat out, cheat out.
